Only one DRI per Work Item

A
Valis Work Rule
requiring exactly one owner for every
Work Item
.
Rationale
Shared responsibility creates ambiguity and coordination costs. By assigning a single
Directly Responsible Individual (DRI)
, we eliminate the inefficiencies of committees and shared blame.
Operational Rule
Assign exactly one person as the DRI.
Clarifications
Do not confuse the DRI with "Contributors". This rule does not imply that only one person works on the item. A work item can have multiple Contributors completing tasks, but it must have exactly one DRI accountable for the outcome.
